Three moments from his life
He was born in the Negev to parents who had come from Morocco, and studied at a Chabad Talmud Torah and at Yeshivat HaNegev, where his path took shape.
He founded a kollel in Netivot and named it for his mother, Rina. From it grew the Be'er Mayim Chayim network of kindergartens, schools and a yeshiva, along with a charity that feeds families in need.
For years he taught Tanya straight after the sunrise prayer. When he passed away at 58, tens of thousands came to accompany him.
